Lesson 6: Cooling Behavior

In this lesson we will evaluate the cooling behavior of a polymer. During the packing and cooling phase, polymer loses its ability to flow and as it cools it begins to hold its shape. Therefore, the volume and density of polymer changes based on internal cavity temperature and pressure.

This lesson covers how to evaluate a part in the cooling phase by comparing wall thickness and process set-ups based on the results from injection pressure requirements, clamp tonnage curves, and part weight curves.
