Polysulfones (PSU) are a class of high-performance thermoplastic polymers known for their toughness, high-temperature resistance, and chemical stability. Their backbone features a unique sulfone group (SO₂), giving them excellent thermal and oxidative stability. PSUs are typically used in demanding applications like medical devices, automotive parts, and aerospace components due to their ability to maintain mechanical properties in harsh environments. They are also known for good electrical insulation, transparency, and resistance to hydrolysis, making them suitable for use in filtration membranes and food processing equipment.
