Lesson 1: Introduction and Planning

Design of Experiments, or DOE, is a powerful mathematical tool that can be successfully applied to areas of new mold trials and to trouble-shoot potentially challenging processes. Experimental design techniques can be utilized by anyone with a fundamental understanding of injection molding. This introductory lesson covers the fundamentals of DOE, including the five stages of running an experiment and how to utilize various charts and graphs to analyze the data.

Topics in this lesson include: the five stages of DOE, the purposes of DOE, how to set up a process diagram, the types of factors that are used as inputs for DOE, and how to use various charts and graphs to analyze data from experiments.
